Zoo Field Trip

The girls took their first field trip of the school year.  We took them to the zoo (which goes along with the book we're rowing this week).

We had a great time, seeing the animals and enjoying our time together as a family.  The weather was hot, hot, hot in the morning and we eventually were rained out in the afternoon, so we were not able to see everything that we wanted to.  There were not many people there that day, which made for an even more relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Arin told me what her favorite part of the day was (seeing the elephants, riding the Flying Bananas, and seeing the alligators) and then she drew a picture of it.

We are studying map skills in Arin's geography book, we took the zoo map and talked about finding locations on the map by using the picture descriptions in the map's key.  I circled the pictures in the key in different colors and Arin found the pictures on the map and circled them in the same colors that I had used.  She really enjoyed this "I Spy" type activity.
